For the last long while, I’ve been busy thinking up and proposing big ideas for a handful of National Science Foundation grants. All of that will be finished on Tuesday, December 7th. The process has reminded me of looming college finals — I just have to make it a few more days and then the bliss of winter break begins.
Except this isn’t college and there’s no winter break.
Instead, I’m going to learn Processing. And I’m writing to tell you because although this goal has been the light in a long, dark tunnel, there’ll be plenty of people and things and holidays demanding my attention once I reach the other side of these grant deadlines. In March 2009, I had a Damascus-I-Can-Change-The-World-With-This moment with Processing and I’ve never made learning it enough of a priority. All that changes next week.
I’ve been talking data viz up as a new core competency for knowledge workers (here’s looking at you museum professionals) and so I’ll be blogging about my experience everyday come next Wednesday. The project will last at least until the beginning of the new year.
I hope you and I find it incredibly useful.
