Some reasons why people go out of their way to create things on behalf of an institution:

1. Because the attention I get is greater than that which I might be able to harness on my own.
2. Because there is a tool available that doesn’t exist anywhere else.
3. Because I believe in the cause.
4. Because it teaches me something about myself.
5. Because it was easy to do.
6. Because I could win something.
7. Because it presents a challenge/deadline.
8. Because I was emotionally moved by the experience/content.
9. Because it made me look good/smart. (Jeff)

12. Because someone invited me personally to do it. (Nina)
13. Because they offered me access to content (like a tool, but different) I couldn’t get on my own. (Nina)
